The Jagarasa are one of the sentient races indigenous to the new lands. Physically, the Jagarasa are a bipedal race that has feline traits. Their heads are fully feline, while their bodies more resemble humans or half-elves. Those whom have never met this race before occasionally mistake them for Rakshasa or other animal demons. Physically, males tend to be larger and broader then females. Males typically stand between 5’ 8” tall and 6’ 6” at the top end of the scale. Females tend towards smaller frames; on average their height ranges from 5 feet to approximately 5’6” to 5’ 8” in height. Females are also typically more lithe, they show greater dexterity and less overall strength then their male counterparts. This difference is more prominent then in the other sentient races, the body shapes between males and females of this race are highly distinctive. Jagarasa are covered entirely in a fine layer of fur all over their bodies, another distinguishing trait from Rakshasa, though sometimes this fur layer is thin enough to appear simply as odd colored skin. Males and females share fur colors, which can range all over the color spectrum. Common patterns resemble wild cats, or the varied colors of domestic breeds. Jagarasa eyes tend to be either gold, or green in color. In addition Jagarasa retain vestigial claws and fangs. These body weapons generally are not used, they are used exclusively for when one wishes to be particularly insulting in a fight, or they are settling a debt of honor. Clothing typically is scant, as they rely on their fur to cover them for modesty’s sake. Armor and clothes tend to be functional, providing protection from the elements, or weapons, and little else. The Jagarasa live generally between 135 to 150 years old, some of the longest lived of their race have been recorded to live to around 200 years of age.

The Jagarasa are a tribal race, split into two major groupings. The two groups chose different names for themselves, though they are all one race. one group of Jagarasa lives along the rivers of the continent, this group is known as the Ragharra. The Ragharra subsist off farming, fishing and trading with other towns along the waterways and oceans. This faction uses wood and clay to construct houses and boats. The legends and stories of the Ragharra say that the knowledge to use the wood and clay so skillfully has been passed down through the towns from generation to generation. The Ragharra have perfected their woodworking and ceramics working so well that they may often substitute the wood and clay for glass and metal, two materials that the Ragharra seldom incorporate into their products. Even when they use such materials they are only used for decorative and ornamental purposes. The second faction is known as the Bambassa. This faction lives a semi-nomadic style along the edges of the swamps and jungles of the continent. They subsist as a hunting and gathering culture, they have mastered the skills that allow them to harvest the natural bounty of the land. The Bambassa are a deeply spiritual group, they believe they have a deep connection to the land that allows them to avoid the worst dangers of the swamps and jungles. This connection manifests in the Bambassa as an inordinate amount of magical talent for the species. Both males and females have strong shamanic tendencies. In the females this tends to manifest as Druidic abilities. Their perceived connection to the land makes nature magic easy and accessible. The males tend to manifest more combative talents; often they combine this talent with their hunting and fighting skills to form strong cadre of Arcane Archers and Sorcerers to do battle, as well as to hunt dangerous prey.

These two groups have been in conflict for longer then the refugee races have lived on the continent. This conflict has lasted longer then the history of the two factions. The reason behind the hostilities has been lost to the mists of time, leaving behind only myths and legends. The two factions never speak of each other publicly, there is no trade between them and they never meet in armed groups. Very rarely a child from one family group will be passed to a family group from the other faction. This is supposedly to promote unity, and eventually heal the separation of their race. So far such efforts have not succeeded, and the practice has simply become rote tradition over the centuries.

The two tribes reacted differently to the arrival of their new neighbors. At first both factions reacted with fear and anger at the intrusion. In the early days conflicts between the refugees and the felines were many and bloody. Eventually representatives of the refugee races convinced the Ragharra that they were not a threat. Though reluctant, the Ragharra began sharing their space with the new sentient races. Over time the Ragharra began to trust their new allies, and became fascinated with the very different styles of crafting and technology of the dwarves, elves and other species. Eventually they began trading technology and different crafting techniques; easing the acceptance of all sides to their new situation. The Bambassa chose simply to avoid the new races. They hid more deeply in the swamps and jungles. They only appeared in very isolated circumstances to offer rare herbs in trade for some of the metal tools and weapons that were offered. The only exception to this isolation has been the Bambassa’s apparent adoption of the Halfling families that attempted to live in the jungles. The kindred spirit of these adventurous folk struck a chord in the Bambassa, and they readily taught the Halfling folk to live in the harsher environments of the continent. Now, the Jagarasa are well incorporated into all the races of the continent. They are accepted and commonly seen in all the major cities dotting the lands.
