(Living in the desert has dulled their sneaking skills, and the desert winds have dulled their otherwise keen hearing but they have gained a slight resistance to heat and fire.)

Favored Class: Ranger (tracking desert creatures, and knowing the lay of the land has become a valuable skill in the desert, making it the most common class of this race.)

The nomadic desert Halfling families have learned to live in one of the harshest environments on the continent. They appreciate the beauty of such a sparse habitat, and have become experts at living rich lives from the bounty of the sands. Such clans will know the location of every drop of water within a dozen or more miles of their yearly nomadic route. They will share this information with those visitors that can prove their good intentions. The desert families often take a fatherly attitude towards these travelers, instructing them in the best way to travel, making sure they have all the proper supplies and ensuring they are aware of the dangers along their route. They usually require very little in trade, though items such as silk and other exotic fabrics as well as other resources they cannot acquire on their own are good trade fodder. In return they offer exotic meats and vegetables they have learned to cure and prepare from the desert lands. They also will trade such odd trinkets and treasures they may find in their nomadic wanderings, digging up such items from the past when the desert winds help uncover them. Water is of course the most precious resource they have, and is one of the major traded items between clans. For someone to freely gift his or her water to another is a sign of high respect, and can often symbolize a permanent bond between the two individuals. The desert clans usually live in large tents that can be easily broken down and moved. They are very skilled at making tents that can protect them from the sands and winds of the desert.
