+The Arau Morndin are a sophisticated people that have been living in isolation deep in the Arau Ihar Mountain Range for centuries. These half-breeds of Orcs and a long lost race of peoples have shunned the barbaric, warlike ways of their orc heritage, dedicating years of study to the arts, crafting, architecture and the “contemplative life” of the Monk. Their capital city is rich in civic art, museums and small apartments where artisans live, work and show their goods. The city is built upon the ashes and ruins of the Old City, a dark & dangerous world hidden deep below the city accessible only by well-guarded tunnels outside the city wall. Few are allowed access below the city, fewer return.
 +
+The origin of the Arau Morndin remains shrouded in mystery. There is a Epic Tale told by local bards telling of a rebellion started deep below the surface by “Sa Showrskilik Brawnik Ban”, or “the Wise and Strong one”. These brave Arau Morndin broke free of the shackles that bound them to their slave masters, sacked their Masters’ City, and rose victorious to the surface to found the Arau Morndins’ capital city, Faern, deep in the Arau Ihar. Faern and the Arau Morndin are ruled to this day by the descendants of the by “Sa Showrskilik Brawnik Ban” and his/her council.
 +
+Most of the Arau Morndin follow one of three paths in life -- the contemplative, the artisan, or the hunter/gatherer exploring for and harvesting the rich resources available in this region. Many choose the contemplative life as a Monk in the Monastery high in the Arau Ihar. Those that enter the Monastery do so at an early age. Artisans and craftsmen take up early apprenticeships under the watchful eye of a Master. The Hunters, gatherers and farmers are culled from all walks of life and from all stages of life, the exception being the “Sa Showrskilik Brawnik Ban”. All members of the society share in the day to day details of running their cities while the Council maintains order and establishes treaties and trade agreements with the new outsiders and other Arau Morndin Settlements.
 +
+The Arau Morndin are a generally peaceful people with little need for an army. The Monks provide what protection and policing they need for the Monastery, Faern, and in the outreaching settlements. All Arau Morndin are trained in the use of the quarterstaff for defense from an early age and they are proficient in its use by the time they reach maturity. Most individuals carry one by their side, usually working as a walking staff or a symbol of the individual’s status in society.
 +
+The Arau Morndin remained in isolation in the mountains for countless centuries until recently when they sought out the the Throck-Badd Trading Company. The Arau Morndin had seen the “outsiders” exploring the Arau Ihar mountains for new natural resources and made the decision to make contact with them. The Company negotiated a trade allegiance with the Council and established a settlement in the foothills of the mighty mountain range. The Throck-Badd have also been allowed to establish a camp outside Faern to prepare for the journey down to the settlement. The arrival of these Outsiders has not sat well with some members of the Arau Morndin society and pockets of rebellion have started to form inside and outside of the city.
 +
+Several protests have sprung up within the City walls as of late. While most are peaceful demonstrations, some have resulted in property destruction, arrests, and even violence and the deaths of the protesters and innocent bystanders. The majority of the protests have been directed toward the members of the Merchant class - threatening letters, graffiti and destruction of personal property make up most of the trouble. There have also been rumors of parties of “raiders” dressed in “traditional Orc and Arau Morndin Garb” attacking travelers from the Trading Company on the roads and in the taverns and inns. These “raiders” are said to have set traps in the paths leading up to the City and in the mines, fields and hunting grounds accessed by the Outsiders. They also are rumored to pose as guards or guides for hire to the Outsiders who lead the travelers into ambushes. The City Guard is able to keep most attacks in check, but some do get out of hand. In an ominous sign, several ranking members of society have left the capital city with a large following in protest of the trade alliance. While the protests of these “rebels” have been mostly peaceful, this could be a sign that things may get worse.
 +
+Appearance: The Arau Morndin are generally a light, warm gray to brown in color with pure white hair. They are inteligent and sophisticated. They are Arau Mordin, not typical half-orcs. Their training in the arts and writing have helped to refine their personalities further. The Arau Morndin shun body modifications of all sorts, even finding scars to be embarrassing, but have a bizarre obsession with jewelry and clothing, often hoarding several chests worth of clothes, boots, shoes and costume jewelry. The Arau Morndin have a rich appreciation the arts, crafting and items and a keen eye for detail. The Arau Morndin have become resistant to the cold after many years up in the mountains, but they are not used to heat of any sort and are more vulnerable to heat and fire.\\
