Duergar spell resistance?

Post by Narisus »

On any other server I have ever played, all of which were Nordock modules, the Duergar race got the sam spell resistance as the Drow. Why is that not the same on this server?

I cannot answer, perhaps Raradra knows more. This is all of the info we have, currently: posting.php?mode=quote&f=2&p=812. Perhaps it is because they have built-in immunities?

Gray Dwarf:
+2 Con, -4 Cha
Immunity: Paralysis
Immunity: Poison

+4 Move Silently
+1 Listen
+1 Spot

Spell Like Ability: Invisibility 1/day
Lliira – Joy, Festivals
Sehanine (Moonbow) – Dreams, Mysticism, Moon Elves
Yondalla – Creation, Tradition, Wisdom
Zinzerena - Chaos, Assassins

I think you are confusing Duergar for Svirfneblin (gnomes), Narisus. In D&D and standard Nordock modules only Drow and Svirfneblin get racial SR. Duergar are more or less just evil underdark dwarves with a couple of racial immunities.

Possibly why tons of people played Drow, but very few played Dugs.

Well, I'd play a dug over a normal dwarf if I were wanting pure mechanics, at least.

But yeah, drow and svirfneblin are kind of "master race"-ish if we're talking mechanics.

This is how it should work, it goes according to the D&D ruleset. If it's not working that way, the big update will fix it. And maybe add something else too. Dugs have a few more stuff up their sleeve. The reason you probably see them done differently in other servers, is what Raradra mentions. They wanted to make the race as attractive as the Drow so they deviated from the ruleset. There are several ways of making Duergars more attractive than even the Drow. Paraphrasing: "This world deserves a better class of underdark dwellers. And I'm gonna give it to them. Everything burns!!!"
