Re: Spell: Charm Person vs giants

Elves/gnomes are humanoid, but with distant fey ancestry- similar to sorcerers often having distant dragon ancestry, but being humanoid There are many, many different species of fey and the term "fey" seems to simply mean any creature whose origins are tied to the Feywild. Fomorians, Gnom...

Re: Size misrepresentations

If we are to bring in the folk lore into this. Oh boy, mind that me being a swede doesn't make me an expert. But hey, I got a neat easy to read illustrated book the last Christmas, yay! Maybe not the best reference with a bit of less professional source declaration .. Let use it ^^ Erhhm, assuming P...

Re: Size misrepresentations

So it is best that I RP my pixie familiar Ming as if she is actually 2+ foot tall. Impact is the following: She is actually wielding her dagger as a dagger/short sword, not as a great sword/halberd/spear. No more hiding in Frin's pockets. Sure he is a tailor but he rather do other things than consta...

Re: Size misrepresentations

Took a look at the height of halflings. Average height of: 2'8" - 3'4"

The shorter halfling is just a couple of inches taller than a pixie. Duct tape fake wings on and then dip them in some sparkly green color, and then see if the dust licking half orcs can tell the difference. ;)

Re: Size misrepresentations

My familiar Ming's speech impediment was entirely motivated by her being so small that she would avoid the r-sound as she shouts on the top of her lungs at the comparably giants around her.

Dammit Bioware!

Size misrepresentations

So Bioware had a different artistic vision on the sizes of things as compared to that of WotC. Beside of of building exteriors being shrunk. Giants and dragons appearing smaller than they are. It would seem Bioware had this idea that the game were best off with everything being able to fit into the ...

Re: Spell: Charm Person vs giants

On the different side of the size spectrum: What of Fey?

Mind that elves and gnomes is a part of this set and that this race is placed in the tool-set's humanoid category. But for some reason not part of Charm/Hold person spell target list.

Re: Spell: Charm Person vs giants

If that is the case, might want to have look on Hold Person. I'm quite sure I have paralyzed ogres with that.
Edit: never mind that, testing showed it to be untrue.

Re: Spell: Charm Person vs giants

I agree that the visual representations of sizes is all over the place in NWN. The buildings, the tentacles in the Evard spell is as an example way to visually small than they actually are. And that size is a good argument. As a magic fire bolt may blast a rock into gravel, doesn't mean it will blow...
